Pamporovo is located in the center of the Rhodope Mountains, at an altitude of 1650m and with the highest peak of Snejanka reaching 1926m. It is located 260 km away from Sofia and 340 km from Thessaloníki. The vegetation of the Rhodope mountains with the endless fir-trees and the countless streams and rivers (many of which are tributaries of Nestos and Ardas) leave even the most demanding visitor excited. In the area of Pamporovo you can find the traditional settlements of Shiroka Laka, Progled, Momchilovtsi, Gela, Bachkovski, the Narechenskite thermal baths and the lakes of Smolyan.

Ski Resort

The ski season runs from early December to mid-April and the ski resort is characterized as the sunniest ski resort in Bulgaria. The ski resort is well designed with 7 aerial and 6 towed lifts, with 37km downhill slopes and 25km endurance tracks, while the 90% of the pistes are covered be artificial snow system. The width and slope of the pistes are ideal for improving the technique of all levels. At the base of the ski resort you will find ski schools and equipment rental shops. In the wider area of the ski resort you will find restaurants serving traditional Bulgarian cuisine, fast food, pizzerias, cafes, bars, clubs, and shops with ski/snowboard equipment. From the season of 2015-2016 It operates with a common card with the adjacent small ski Mechi Chal (Chepelare).

Accomodation

For your stay you can choose between the 2 hotels located in the center of Pamporovo and close to Ski Center 1 (one of the bases of the ski resort) Orlovetz Hotel 5* and Perelik Hotel 5*. Perelik was completely renovated in 2017 and Orlovetz in 2018.

Trip

In Pamporovo you won’t find the mundane life of Bansko or Borovets and you will definitely travel quite a bit to get there as it is the furthest of the three major ski resorts in Bulgaria and the bus ride takes 6.5 – 7 hours (with car 5 – 5.5 hours) from Thessaloniki. We are sure though that the landscape with the dreamy fir forest of Rhodope, the very well designed ski resort services and the multitude of lifts will reward you!

The first excursions of the season take place during the festive period of Christmas, while an excursion follows on Clean Monday.

_tips of the trip

  • take advantage of the package that includes the lift card to avoid waiting at the box office
  • The lift cards included in the package are as many as the nights of the stay
  • If you wish, and depending on the time of arrival, you can choose two half-day cards (for the first and last day).

_prices are per person in a double room and include:

  • bus transfer from Thessaloniki and Drama (Xiropotamos intersection)
  • accommodation and meals of your choice
  • transportation to/from the base of the lifts according to the program
  • free use of swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, gym (depending on the hotel’s free amenities)
  • lift card packages include the lift card. The lift cards included in the package are the same as the overnight stays (eg 3 nights = 3 day lift cards). If you wish and depending on the time of arrival, you can choose two half-day cards (for the first and last day) and 2 full-day cards. Valid for advance purchase up to 10 days before departure
  • experienced office attendant, liability insurance, information leaflets, VAT

_prices do not include:

  • lift cards where they are not mentioned
  • extra meals and drinks
  • the accommodation tax and municipal taxes which are paid directly at the hotel reception during check-out

_ski & Snowboard lessons :

During the Christmas period, when there are organized excursions to Pamporovo, you can schedule ski & snowboard lessons for children with teachers from our schools Explosivo Ski School & Explosivo Snowboard School.

_important Information:

  • To travel to Bulgaria you need a passport or ID card with Latin characters. The organizer shall not be liable if the customer does not have the legal documents for crossing the borders. ID cards of security service are not a travel document. Holders of non-Greek documents are responsible for any visa requirement for crossing the border (more information can be taken from the Bulgarian embassy or consulate or border police 2323041222)
  • Children up to 12 years old must travel only with a passport.
  • Children under 18 traveling with a parent need a validated authorization/consent form of the other parent. Children traveling without parents need validated authorization/consent form from both parents

  • Discounted prices for children apply when staying in an extra bed in a room with two adults.

  • The excursion takes place with a minimum participation of 20 people, regardless of the operating status of the ski resort.
