Borovets is the oldest winter resort in Bulgaria, with a history dating back to 1896 and together with the ski resorts of Pamporovoand Banskothey are the magic trio of Bulgaria !! Over the years it has developed and evolved into one of the most modern and largest ski resorts in the Balkans. Two world-wide ski races were organized there, while the biathlon track is considered one of the best in the world. Located at Mount Rila, its base is at 1,350 meters, while its higher slopes reach an altitude of 2,600 meters. Its peak is called Mousalas, it is the highest in the Balkan peninsula and it’s at a height of 2,925 meters. The nearest town to the ski resort is Samokov, just 10 kilometers away, while it’s just 73km from the Bulgarian capital Sofia and 270km from the city of Thessaloníki. Winter in Borovets is mild but with large quantities of snow! The slopes are usually snowy from December to April and temperatures fluctuate around 0C.
Ski Resort
Surrounded by forests and landscapes of alpine beauty it is the ideal place for relaxation, recreation and skiing! The slopes in Borovets are divided into 3 areas: Sitnyakovo, Yastrebets and Markudjik. There are ski and snowboard slopes, jumps, night skiing (8 tracks illuminated!!!), skidoo, skating, cross country and biathlon. The total length of the ski pistes reaches 58km and is suitable for each level, from beginners and intermediate level to experienced skiers or snowboarders. They are marked with international symbolism, their stratification is of high standard and modern lifts ensure quick access. There are also 160 (!!!) cannons for artificial snow which are installed in case it is needed. At the base of ski resort you will find organized ski schools & snowboarding. Excursions to the beautiful Borovets with fantastic night skiing take place at Christmas, Epiphany and Clean Monday. We depart early in the morning and return in the evening of the last day of the excursion (departure at 15:00). For your stay you can choose between the Rila 4* at the base of the ski lifts (ski in-ski out) with direct access to the slopes of ski, and the Euphoria Club Hotel & SPA 4* at a distance of 2km with free transfer for the base of the gondola. Be advised, transfers from/to Euphoria are not made at afternoon hours.
