A two-day visit to the unique Zagorochoria, the stone bridges of the area and the Vikos Gorge! A route – crossing that should be planned by every hiker – nature lover with satisfactory physical condition. The Vikos Gorge is one of the most famous in Greece and the deepest gorge, in terms of length-width-height, worldwide. It forms the core of the Vikos-Aoos National Forest, in the area of which a wide variety of rare species of flora and fauna find refuge. It is about 11 kilometers long and in many places the depth exceeds 1,000 meters. For those who wish, they can choose the activity of rafting instead of crossing the Gorge.
1st day
On Saturday around 12:30 we arrive at Zagorochoria and Kipoi village for a short hike to the four stone bridges of the area. Then we will head to Oxya, a spot with a breathtaking view of the gorge! In the afternoon we will end up in Ano Pedina and our amazing hotels Pirrion Boutique Hotel & Ameliko where we will have free time for rest, food, company and preparation for the crossing the next day!
2nd day
On Sunday we will have our breakfast early, check out and depart for Monodendri and the entrance of the gorge. The route lasts 5-6 hours, with a strongly downhill path in the first hour and a strongly uphill path in the last hour, and ends in the village of Vikos. There we will have free time for our lunch before we set off for the return. *Depending on the weather conditions, there is a possibility that a) the day of crossing the gorge may change, b) an alternative route may be carried out.
