A two-day visit to the unique Zagorochoria, the stone bridges of the area and the Vikos Gorge! A route – crossing that should be planned by every hiker – nature lover with satisfactory physical condition. The Vikos Gorge is one of the most famous in Greece and the deepest gorge, in terms of length-width-height, worldwide. It forms the core of the Vikos-Aoos National Forest, in the area of which a wide variety of rare species of flora and fauna find refuge. It is about 11 kilometers long and in many places the depth exceeds 1,000 meters.
1st day
On Saturday, around 12:30, we arrive at Zagorochoria and the village of Kipoi for a short hike on the four stone bridges of the area. Then we will head to Oxya, a spot with a breathtaking view of the gorge! In the afternoon we will end up in the Upper Plains and our amazing hotels Pirrion Boutique Hotel & Ameliko where we will have free time to rest, eat, socialize and prepare for the next day’s crossing!
2nd day
On Sunday we will have an early breakfast, check out and depart for Monodendri and the entrance of the gorge. The route lasts 5-6 hours, with a strongly downhill path in the first hour and a strongly uphill path in the last hour, and ends in the village of Vikos. There we will have free time for our lunch before we start for the return.
