hiking | crossing Koziakas | Pertouliotika meadows – Koziakas (top of Hatzipetrou or Astrapi) – Elati | 14.8 km | of little difficulty | ages: 12+ Our route starts on Saturday from the Pertouliotika meadows and the ski center at an altitude of 1130m. After crossing the meadows we enter a gently uphill path in a fir forest (4.5 km) that leads us to the Koziakas refuge, which is located at an altitude of 1738m, where we will spend the night*. The ascent (900m/direction) to the top of Hatzipetros, also known as Astrapi, will take place either on Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning, depending on the weather forecast. From the top of Hatzipetros peak (1901m) we have a panoramic view of Pindos range, Lake Plastira, the Thessalian plains up to Mount Olympus and Kissavos. On Sunday, after having our breakfast on one of the most beautiful balconies, we will leave the shelter for Elati (8.4 km). We will have free time for food/coffee before we start for our return to Thessaloniki.

_accommodation

The refuge of Koziakas is a stone building, located at an altitude of 1738m in close proximity to the Bakola spring, surrounded by dense coniferous forests and a station for the European mountain trail E4. Common areas include the reception area with fireplace and dining area. It has a kitchen and a bar. There are communal outdoor toilets and showers with cold water. The beds (bunk beds) are on the 1^st floor in a single room. *On the Koziakas excursion for your stay you can also choose the camp which will be set up in a controlled area outside the refuge. In the camp you will find a 4-season tent (from 1 to 3 people) while you can use the common areas of the refuge. An important condition is to have a sleeping bag that covers you in the expected temperatures and a good substrate.
